Vintage Linens and Lace Ideas

If you have been reading my blog very long, you know I have a real thing for vintage lace and linens.

Any time I find them at garage sales and/or estate sales, I just can't help myself.

So, as my collection has grown and grown and grown, I thought I would give you some ideas of what all I use them for, OK?

This banner/garland was made out of linen and trimmed with old lace and buttons.

I made this window covering out of all sizes and kinds of lace and doilies.  I needed the light but wanted it covered a little bit

I use my vintage Christmas tablecloths on a ladder for the holidays.

I covered this folding screen with an old quilt.  There were places it was really worn out and I sewed various doilies on top of those places.

I made this settee out of an antique baby bed using a vintage red rose tablecloth for the dust ruffle and the center pillow.

This memory frame was made in honor of my Nana - my Mother's Mom.  I used a hankerchief that was hers, a photo of she and my son and attached her watch that I had.  Sweet memories.

This table runner was a old Christmas tablecloth.

One of my all time favorites is the wreath completely covered in vintage red and white crocheted potholders.

I also did one in colored potholders.

At Easter, I made Easter eggs out of vintage quilt pieces.  I very seldom cut up a good quilt.  I buy a lot that have holes or stains and cut out around that.

I also did a lace encrusted bunny!

Burlap Christmas stocking trimmed with old hankerchief.

A wall hanging with pockets and trimmed with old lace and doilies.

These are some of my vintage hankerchiefs that I put on an old spoon rack I had painted red.

And then there are pillows...

One of my memory pillows...

The little stuffed heart on this pillow was from an old hankerchief.

and then, last but certainly not least, is Miss Begonia.

Hope you enjoyed some of my ideas of what all I do with my hoard of vintage trims.

Midsummer!!

This time of the year, I always think of two things..

Sunflowers and

Watermelons.

For some reason, those two things always pop into my head about this time of the year.

We are having intense heat.  The heat factor today is suppose to be 110 degrees.

Bella and I are pretty much staying in.

The flowers seem to be doing okay.  I'm watering more than usual.  They kind of wilt be the end of the day - but then, so do I.

This weekend, I am going to Oklahoma City to see Garth Brooks - again!!!!

It has been such a busy summer.  Tiff, the girls and I went on vacation, the girls are taking swimming lessons and just so much to do.

Then, my sisters and I are going to Branson to spend some time together.  Looking forward to that.

I have not replied to the comments because of some problems with my computer.  That and I cannot get my emails but it is being worked on.

Enjoy summer and stay cool.

Happy Fourth of July

To start off, Bella and I want to wish you all a very Happy 4th of July!

Do you remember me sharing my Christmas pillow that my Mom had cross stitched and sold at a bazaar?  The lady who bought a bunch of them passed away and her daughter was cleaning out her Mom's home and brought all of these pillows that her Mom had bought from my Mom.  She felt like we should have them all to keep in the family.  Long story short, this is the other pillow I chose from the pillows.

These are just various decorations I have made in the past few years...

And then all of the red, white and blue touches throughout my home...

And I can't forget all of the red, white and blue dishes!

So, enjoy your day and always remember that we have this holiday to celebrate because of the many who have given their lives for our country and the ones who are serving today.

HAPPY 4th OF JULY!

Judy
